Leipzig Christopher Street Day (CSD) 2026 will take place from 10–18 July 2026, celebrating more than three decades of Pride and activism in one of Germany’s most vibrant cities. The event traces its roots back to 1992, inspired by the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York, and has grown into a powerful week of community, culture, and celebration.
The festivities will begin with the traditional rainbow flag-raising at Neues Rathaus, followed by a reception and the presentation of the CSD Leipzig Award for Queer Commitment, honoring outstanding contributions to LGBTQ+ equality.
CSD Demonstration and Street Festival
The highlight of the week arrives on Saturday, 18 July 2026, with the main demonstration and street festival on Augustusplatz. The rally will lead into a colorful march through Leipzig’s city streets before returning to Augustusplatz for a full day of performances, speeches, and celebration.
How to Get to Augustusplatz
Augustusplatz is the heart of Leipzig Pride, hosting the rally, demonstration and street party. Located on the eastern edge of Leipzig’s city centre, it’s just a short walk from the main railway station. For those who have difficulty walking, including wheelchair users, Augustusplatz is accessible via tram lines 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 16. Most city centre stops are barrier-free.
Due to the demonstration, there may be restrictions on public transport and streets around the city centre. For up-to-date information on any diversions, check with Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB). If you can walk the last few metres, consider stops like Hauptbahnhof, Markt, Johannissplatz and Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz.
Driving directly to Augustusplatz on the day of the demonstration is not recommended. Instead, use parking facilities outside the city centre and take public transport or walk.
